Eagle Creek

We went for a very long hike on Sunday up to Eagle Creek, it was a very busy hike and took us 3 hours there and back.  I don't think I'll be going back though as the path was very narrow with extremely sharp drop offs and the people were not very friendly!!!  It was a pleasant walk though with a couple of streams to cross on the way and meadows of wild flowers on the hill sides.  The waterfall at the end was called the Punch Bowl and it was very pretty but not as spectacular as some we've been too.

A nice long weekend

We had a nice long lazy three day weekend this week.  Thankfully the weather was ok and we managed a couple of sunnyish days without too much rain.

Jonah and Ben went fishing on a couple of the mornings but Jonah said he's never going back as there were no fish in the river!!!  Think it has more to do with the fishermen myself.......

Max and I joined them one morning whilst the girls played at a friends house, I even managed to get a bit of crocheting in and enjoy a cup of chai.

My beautiful belles.....

The girls ballet performance was on Saturday and they were 'Little Belles' in 'The Perfect Princess'

Olivia was a little nervous and didn't want to get changed into her costume but minutes beforehand she said she'd do it.  Madeleine absolutely loves performing but Olivia always looks a tiny bit nervous.

It's not cold......

We stopped off for a picnic on the way home from the caves, as usual we were freezing but the kids never seem to feel it.  We were moved on from our first picnic spot as the owner wanted to charge us $300 to use the shelter but this place by the water turned out to be much nicer......

Lava tunnels

Last weekend we went to Ape Caves to visit the lava tunnels.  These tubes were amazing and went a mile and half underground, the kids were a little freaked out and we had to coax Madeleine down a bit but so glad we did as she really enjoyed it in the end.

The potholers.

More crochet to bore you......

These turned out so pretty, I think I'll give them to the girls teacher so she can put them up in the classroom.

I found the bunting on this blog.

Happy Mothers Day......

This Sunday was Mothers Day and as expected it is quite a big thing over here, everyone we passed wished me well which I thought was nice.

Jonah made me a book all about me, I had to chuckle about number 10 of my favourite things.  He knows me so well as I actually do love to hang out and fold my washing, everyone knows not to help!!!!

It says I am good at Knitting and NOT hitting as Ben pointed out!!!!

My lovely yellow roses

The girls class held a Mothers Day tea for all the mums and the girls served me lemonade, cakes and crackers.  It was really sweet and they were so excited to have me in the class, not that you'd guess from the look on Olivia's face.

Busy crocheting.....

I finally finished off a couple of projects I've been working on.

First up is a lace scarf that I originally started knitting but the pattern was too complicated for me to keep track of, crocheting is much easier for me to put down and just pick up anytime.

I'm really pleased with the result.

Next up is a blanket for Wendy's sister who is expecting her first baby at the end of the month.  I love how this turned out and am now planning to make another blanket for my best friend who is due in October.....

More pics from Sunday

You'll notice that I'm wrapped up but the kiddies are running around with virtually nothing on!!!!

A sunny day at last.....

It was a glorious day yesterday so we took full advantage and headed down to the coast.  This time we headed a bit further south to a State Park called Cape Lookout about 2 hours from Portland.  It was well worth the drive and will become one of our favourite beach haunts I think.  There was a lovely cove for the kids to do some beachcombing and lots of picnic tables and fire pits for our BBQs.

Sorry for the lack of pictures but the laptop keeps crashing out as I think Ben is downloading something. I'll try and upload them later.
